As an Individual you are elected to a grade commensurate with your academic achievements, technical and occupational competency and become the member of a body recognised by industry. You will be registered and will then receive details of meetings and events, which you are encouraged to attend. These meetings are designed to provide opportunities to increase your knowledge, keep abreast of new developments and associate with other members within Industry having similar interests and goals. Access is provided to all aspects of the Institute Web Site, which carries technical information available to members only. Personal Development within the Institute is encouraged and opportunities regularly occur for members to assist in honorary capacities on committees and subsequently on the National Council, which directs the overall operations of the Institute. Opportunities exist to develop skills in public speaking, technical journalism, communication, training and leadership. These skills can be developed by promoting yourself and the Institute in such projects as:
Consider the hidden benefits of belonging to an organisation of people knowledgeable in your own area of business interest. People of standing, decision makers, company directors, professional engineers, research professors, university educators executives and practitioners from a wide range of industries and businesses. Each Institute member is a link in a communications network, which can share a problem, open a door or instil confidence, giving you the prestige and fellowship that comes with membership.
